Yesterday's post presented some of the larger unknown generation addresses. I put up a small bounty, and as a result of that and some investigations of my own I was able to attribute one address to Cloudhashing.com, and about one hundred and fifty addresses to Picostocks 100TH (well, now called 500TH) Mine.
1. Details
The Cloudhashing address information was first posted on Reddit, pointing to this Bitcointalk post as evidence, which I followed a bit further to confirm the claim that 1ALA5v7h49QT7WYLcRsxcXqXUqEqaWmkvw does belong to Cloudhashing.com, and the bounty for this address was paid.
I spent some time reading the Picostocks 100TH Mine thread and found a few addresses there, and then looked through all the transactions here for generating addresses, and found one hundred and fifty five.
I retabulated and recharted the data, and I have new addresses for the bounty, below.
Firstly, the unknown block generating addresses from last week:
So the proportion of unknowns is now down to 3.92%, less than half of what it was. These generation addresses are at most 0.59% of the network, and at that rate may simply be privately owned.
The all time top ten now has room for two more:
Unknown recurring generation address | Blocks solved | Percentage of all solved blocks | Maximum hashrate, Thps | Date of maximum hashrate |
---|---|---|---|---|
19fbcmiSmxHGjyBDG2on5Qgfnvxs8ukdNz | 709 | 0.25 % | 1.39 | 2013-04-21 |

The chart now looks a little different for the last half of 2013, too (update on right).

Find a typo or spelling error? Email me with the details at organofcorti@organofcorti.org and if you're the first to email me I'll pay you per ten errors:
Please refer to the most recent blog post for current rates or rule changes.
I'm terrible at proofreading, so some of these posts may be worth quite a bit to the keen reader.
Exceptions:
- Errors in text repeated across multiple posts: I will only pay for the most recent errors rather every single occurrence.
- Errors in chart texts: Since I can't fix the chart texts (since I don't keep the data that generated them) I can't pay for them. Still, they would be nice to know about!
Update on the update: 1JQR7BM3g1p83eXT9EqwsecvfNhDDzQefx is now also claimed. It was GPUMax's private pool, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88486.msg980130#msg980130
